Just 59 years old.

Met him at a football summer school when I was young. He was the nicest man you could wish to meet and had a beaming aura.

Terribly sad, he was, genuinely, a great footballer & a very brave man. It was not easy for black footballers in those days.

He was an MBE, too.

A very good player with a touch of class both as a person and footballer.

RIP Cyrille.

Lovely piece on CR here.  Did anyone see the bbc1 show regarding the 70s/80s racism in football last night by Adrian Childs?  Great watch  if you missed it on iplayer.  Was mainly about the West Midlands area obviously with Childs presenting it.

I don't follow football and even I thought it was great.

The TV show last night?  It made me realise a) how old i am that i remember stuff like that and b) how much the world has changed in the last 30 odd years.  Football was a scary place to be as a kid in that era.
