Dear Shaun
I have received your complaint about the Saturday poker competition. Unfortunately Grosvenor Casinos is going through a transformation and this has effected our ability to offer the same level of poker competitions we have done in the past.
With a limited number of team to operate the poker room we had to make some difficult decisions. The reasoning for removing the Saturday night poker was a combination of things but we took into account the operational difficulties created on Saturdays because of the numbers of customers who visit on Saturdays.
The poker players mostly drive and it is one person per car, this places pressure on parking and we often run out of spaces. The demand on the kitchen peaks on Saturdays and this causes complaints trying to serve the poker room orders, bar orders and a very busy restaurant.
The transformation involves a reduction in the number of employees throughout the casinos and in order to be able to meet customer demand we had to make some tough decisions.
I know this is not the answer you would have liked but I hope it gives you abetter understanding of why we have acted in the way we have.

This seems like a really sensible decision. The number of times I see regs wasting everyone's time for a free cup of tea and not even tipping when it comes ...makes my blood boil. Poker players love to talk about the contribution they make to the casino but it's obviously not true in relative terms. You only have to look at the rake in Vegas to know that the relatively low rakes here must make card rooms borderline/ unprofitable.
Maybe they should have started by charging for drinks that are currently free before going straight for this decision.
Crazy that they make the carpark bigger to have a bigger card room then stop the games because too many people drive to the bigger poker room.
Doesn't really affect me as im not able to play as much as I used to/would like but can understand the outrage. If it happens at Luton then what chance have other card rooms got. Genting should be seizing the moment.
Seems the cash players should be happy with the promotions being put on for them. I played one night when it was free rake and food and it was pretty decent.
I just don't understand the outrage tbf, it's not like it's one of the public services suffering spending cuts - tourny poker players don't lose enough to the casino, may even cost & they reduce the customer experience for good losers, spenders, tippers. It's a business, not a community centre. Friday night next on the car park rationale ?

Meant smaller.
I see that Fridays price has increase with a bigger gte which it made last Friday. Def goes against the rationale although Saturday must be much busier for the casino.

Tbf I've rocked up a few times and not been able to park because of a busy poker night and its annoyed me a little. Granted this is the few times when I'm not going for poker, I'm getting back from work late and I just want a couple pints and its pissed me off that I've had to walk like 2/3mins from where I eventually dumped the van

I genuinely don't understand why healthy people mind walking for a few minutes.
My lot are all young and fit but they would happily park the car in the shop if they could.

Thats a bit of a bizarre statement.. do you feel the same if you park in a multi story carpark to go shopping and have to walk 2-3 minutes to the shops ?.. also there are no where you can have a pint thats not the G casino ?
