Men who enter these tournaments have something severely wrong with them.

Didn't start a trend when a few muppets did it ~10 years ago, so can't see that it will now.

Agree with Vin, they must be very odd individuals.

The mail makes it clear that it was a "bearded male" to emphasise the brazen nature of the incursion in these days of gender ambiguity.

Oddballs for sure, but I reckon that bloke who entered and won one recently has encouraged a few more to jump on the bandwagon.

Looks like I'm the odd man out here. What is the reason for women only tournaments?

Happy to be persuaded by a decent argument.

Not sure you would be the odd one out. The idea is to get women in to the game in an environment the feel comfortable in to start with.

Whether people agree with that or not, It's a shitty move entering a tournament that is designed for women only. Not entirely sure how he was actually allowed to join.

Perhaps because men only tournaments are not allowed and the same law applies.

I think a lot of women are put off the live game by sitting on a table with 8 men to 1 women. By introducing them to the live game in an all female environment can only encourage them to join mixed events, thus adding bringing fresh blood to the game. even if only 5% of the players join in with the men its 5% more than would of if they hadn't got a taster in a more comfy zone.

The fact women are just as good as men and in some cases much better is irrelevant if they are put off playing live because of the fact they feel at unease for the 6+ hours while sat at a table while men drool over them.

Minorities innit.

Out of interest, has an all men’s tournament been attempted and rejected?

Think Matt Savage said it was something to do with the rules of that State/City, which meant they couldn't prevent it in the way the WSOP does by charging 10x buyin.

I think men have been participating in ladies event for years already but the thing this time was that a man actually managed to win it.
