I want to know if anyone could have got away from this hand in a four handed game. I know that I for sure could not, regardless of the tells that teddy was giving off, If I was holding the 2rd nuts I was going broke.

the trouble with the raise is that if he's called he's beaten and otherwise he's only gonna get a fold.
A value bet would have been better (not that i would have passed to a reraise)

Your opponent would have to make a big giveaway "I have pocket rockets" bet or something to make a raise on the end incorrect.
I disagree with a previous poster who says you're only getting called if you're beat. Trip 9's pay you off on the end here 9 times out of 10.

Wouldn't have been sitting at the table in the first place if I weren't bankrolled up for it though.

i doubt very much someone is going to call such an overbet with trip 9's, especially with the flush there.

The flush pays you, smaller full boats pay you too. I'm not convinced that trip 9's will fold, it's a big pot already. Two aces are something you don't worry about here, especially 4 handed. You have two already accounted for.

If you had AA you wouldn't be worried about 99. The chances your opponent has AA when you have A9 is pretty much the same.
It's an easy value raise for me.

The reason I asked this question is, When I first saw the movie, I read teddy for the flush, It makes sense as he is not playing back at mike, he is portraying a drawing hand, when he does move, its when the flush is on the board. A very crafty play and well executed ( i know its a movie ).

I just know that I would have read it wrong, I am not giving the Nut hand to Teddy, I could not put him on it. ( unless you know what his tell is )

On the whole, I believe its almost impossible for anyone to get away from what we know to be the 2nd nuts in this instance.

Can anyone justify a reason for laying down the 2nd nuts here, I'd love to hear it, if only to help improve my game.

It's a clear call, we are facing a massive bet by our oppo, there is a flush and FH possible, this screams to me that he has a FH, he may well have bottom set, but he may have top set. If we raise all in he knows we have a house so folds bottom set, and we get nowt, the only hand that calls is A9 or AA. So a call is optimal i think,
