Someone I know was barred from a Grosvenor casino for stealing a mobile phone. Now I dont know whether he stole it or not, his own phone was identical and he says he picked it up by mistake, maybe he did, maybe he didnt. The upshot of it is, he now finds himself barred from every casino in the country, Grosvenor or otherwise. Now while I agree that the last thing we need in card rooms is dishonesty I wonder if casinos should have the power to impose such a punishment without the offender having an impartial independent body to appeal to. As things stand they are judge, jury and executioner and could, in theory, take away a poker players livelihood because he got on the wrong side of them. On the other hand imagine how hard the casino managers (and especially the card room managers) already difficult job would be if his teeth were pulled and he ended up as just a figurehead with no authority.

What do YOU think?

Come on Red dog i told you it wasnt ur phone, It was fixed to the wall for a start. Joking apart you have got a very good point that they can give you a national barr at the drop of a hat, and also they dont have to give you a reason.Saying that I know everyone at Walsall pretty well and suprised they would ban them so easily, maybe theres more to it, but we'll never know

Surely there is some sort of governing body he could appeal to?
I don't know the details but it seems very strange there is no right to appeal

i know someone banned for hiding a drink as a joke, he just moved it out of the way and the manager didn't think it was funny at all. I appreciate that with strict license laws it is a serious issue for a casino but there was no harm done and it really was only a prank. the result is a lifetime ban!!! no appeal, ok ban him for 3 months but not so heavy handed!
This is the problem with the system, if the manager has had a bad day...................
BTW there was a drunk walking round shouting and swearing during the monday night comp at walsall, no action taken.
There were also several arguments and shouting and swearing, abuse of staff etc during a single table satelite i was involved in thursday i think, again no action?
no consistency,
