Poker chips???
«

what poker chips does everyone use for their home games??
i'm thinking of getting a new decent set of real casino style chips, however, the choice in the UK is very limited compared to the states!
best site i've found is
http://poker.marlowcasinochips.com/
bit on the pricy side thought. it would be about the same price though if they were to be imported from US, with the high shipping costs and tax.
what chips does everyone use? has anyone imported from the US? are there any other UK suppliers of decent chips?
thanks
p.s. 1st post so hello to everyone

Welcome to the forum mikee_j
I got a good set off ebay. Unusually £ denomination, 500 pieces, about £50 in all. Haven't seen the same ones since though.

Me too.
Watch out for shipping costs on ebay, the sets weigh a ton.

I don't really know much about chips as I only play online. However I did pick up a set of W.P.T chips the other day for £10. The WPT chips are split into different categorys, ranging from basic to the authentic expensice types. The type I bought were the top of the range version. I looked on a few internet sites to make sure and sure enough I got a real bargain.

I got a 650 chip set off ebay for about £30. 11.5g, no denominations but I don't mind.

The Hendon mob chip sets are very nice. They are £49.99 which is expensive, but you get what you pay for and their sets come with 2 packs of high quality plastic playing cards and the chips and case are of excellent quality.

seems everyone has somekind of variation on the 11.5g composite chips! thats what i have at the moment, but i don't like them, especially after playing with other chips and getting samples of other types of chips. i'm a bit of a chip-holic! really appreciate a good poker chip!

I got a 600 piece set when i was in vegas, all in wit was about £15 thats with 4 decks of cards, dice and case. A good deal if you are going to vegas. Other than that there are the chips at £20 from Costco, 11.5g and they are good value.

unless you are prepared to spend the dosh for real quality chips like the Paulsons, then you are in the cheaper seats - from reading recently the best clay type chips are either what they call "pro clay" or nexgens.
google should find you reviews and suppliers...

think i'm going to go for some TR King Deadwoods, beautiful chips but cost about 85p per chip. can get them from marlow just have to win enough online to cover the costs!
if anyone is interested in a group buy for these chips or paulsons please get in touch! the more we buy, the cheaper they are.
