Should he step up?

No. He could, but he's 33 now, get the Kessler and Beyer fights and then retire.

i reckon he will fight kessler, another good showing there and he can look for the big money fight with jones or more likely tarver.

then he can retire a very rich man win or lose

Kessler would be a tougher fight than Beyer. But after last nights performance he can take on anyone.

I think he should stay where he is.

And retire an a unified champion.  But Calzaghe hasn't had as many big paydays as other boxers and I think he is chasing a few big purses.

He mentioned something last night about taking on Antonio Tarver - now that would indeed me a cracking fight.  I don't think Calzaghe has the power to box in a heavier division, I think he is more of a worker and would need to win every round in a heavier division or he would be picked off by a big puncher.

Antonio Tarver is fighting Bernard Hopkins on 10/06/06. Maybe the winnner of that bout. Both of them are old men 37/41 and way past their best. He should aviod Jermaine Taylor, who is fighting Sam Soliman in April and then Ronald Wright in June.

Although, it could be written in his contract that he has to fight Lacy again.

I don't think we will need to worry about Lacy invoking the rematch!!!

Tarver is like Lewis, he picks up later on when others are sloping. No way is Tarver an old man.

Id love to see Joe get the WBA and WBC belts from Beyer.

After last nights display I don't think we will see any of them queuing up for a shot at Calzaghe.  I'd like to see him fight Tarver, and I'd be piling on Calzaghe again.

What a fight. My hat is off to Calzaghe I never thought him that good.

With some of the sentiments earlier in this thread I do rate Calzaghe with the golden era boys it's just unfortunate he never got to test himself against them in their prime.

IMO it's

Jones Jr
Eubank
Calzaghe
Collins
Benn
