I see the final poker stars final tally for WSOP qualifers comes in at 1,116.

How long before the WSOP becomes the "poker stars invitational"?

It seems an almost unmanageable lottery with 6,000+ as it is. I question whether the sheer number of entrants brings the tournament into disrepute due to the amount of luck needed to avoid bad beats over such a long period. Will there come a time when it is tiered into rounds like the FA Cup, with the big boys entering after many of the "minnows" have knocked each other out? I don't like that idea but where will it end? One for debate maybe.

Following on from my last post, I suppose it is a bit like the FA Cup now with the big boys coming in at a later stage by paying directly their $10k. Will this principle be extended perhaps to manage the numbers?

I understand there is talk of putting the entry fee up to 25k to keep numbers down. Seems sensible as it should be the biggest buy in tourney being the world champs, along with the WPT biggie.

That makes a lot of sense but cue some protests from those who say that will only benefit the already well-moneyed players and worst of all the millionaire celebrities who are invading this territory like an unwanted rash. Of course, in America, "It's show business, folks!"
