My opinion (expressed to him) was that "how the hell can you call the all in (or in fact the flop bet) with just 1 pair. He said rather confusingly "I was trapping you, dont you understand that".

Cant wait to see him again at the table.

not only did he have top pair with a good kicker but he also had a straight draw on the turn...perhaps he did feel like he was ahead. with 11 outs i guess he went for the gamble

lol yeah i dont see what he did wrong. 4 handed you have about 1000 chips each, he would be wrong to fold here.

I actually missread the HH because the cards seperated it, 8 handed 5 to the flop and i see a total bet of about 1k go in with the allin.

Still i cant see what the guy did wrong.

40 + 360 + 646 all in = 1046

Yes but General could have had 8000 chips and be massive chip leader of the table - in which case he's going to call the 646 even with bottom pair as losing will not damage his stack.

I agree with other posters, if there was a mistake the general made, it was calling the flop raise. A clever billy would have folded there.

After that, calling the all-in isn't too horrible a play. Like stallyon said, he's up and down with his top pair.

You want a guy to stack off with top pair, if all your opponents make shrewd laydowns all day long, this tournament might still be going on.

Type "NEXT!" and get on with it.

P.S.

"I was trapping you, dont you understand that".

If my opponent still has chips, I'll spout nonsense like this sometimes to upset them.
