Perhaps it's because I have only really started playing in the last 6 months but I am slightly concerned, not too much as I don't play for big money, I've never risked money that I don't have, I don't chase my losses and I don't ever find myself denying myself or others about things but I do wonder if perhaps I am addicted to gambling, poker in particular.

I tend to play every day, certainly every other day.  The last two Saturdays, I've had big days out with my mates and know that an early night would be an idea yet I find myself playing poker till 1am.  Last night I was up till 1:30am and am buggered now, but I am planning tonights games because I have a day off tomorrow.  I also bet frequently on things - again, only small bets and I am less worried because the thought of not betting for a week or two doesn't bother me.  I'm planning a weeks holiday in May and I did even think of the chances of getting away one night and finding a game, but the missus would be less than impressed Cheesy

Perhaps I do have a bit of a habit but like I mentioned, it's not really an issue, just something I've picked up on.

I love it, and as I have got older I find I worry less and live for the day more and more.....

I've done the "career stress" thing for twenty years and found it made me unhappy, a pain to live with (or so she said  Cool and affected my health.

I sure as heck ain't going to fret about playing poker!

Whats the worst that could happen with me playing poker? I go skint I suppose....in the big scheme of things there are a lot worse things that could happen in life

Enjoy!!

I do often think about the addictiveness of the game and how the overall losers are dealing with it. I've been playing a few years  and started as a losing player. I look at it as paying for my tuition. now I'm making a (modest) living from poker I am acutley aware that it's other peoples hobby to play at a loss that provides that income.

To answer the question it would depend on your defintion of addiction.

Can I go through a day without playing poker....yes.

Do I want to go through a day without poker....no.

I am not addicted, but I love to play.

Also, I would say 95% of the top poker pros are addicted or close to it.

That's why I love poker so much, no such thing as a professional alcoholic, or the world series of smoking champ. Poker is a realm on to is own and I intend on playing all my life. In fact, I hope I die at the poker table when I am like 107 years old.

Simple answer -

With Poker being such a cruel game at times - who the hell else would play it day in day out if they didnt love the game!!!

I become obsessed about things very quickly.  I always have done. I don't think I am addicted to poker though.
If poker is your favorite hobby, it is not an addcition in my opinion. I know many people who watch, play and support football. But I never hear someone say " poor george, he is addcited to football".

I do like to gamble though, but not the traditional games.  When I was at school, some friends and I would each put £1 on the table. We would then bet part or all of the £1 on which colour of car would come round the corner of the main road next. This was alot of fun. There was no particular skill, but it was a good way to have harmless fun.

In the early 90's when I played this game, it was RED.  Now I would bet on Silver.

Let me stand up & just say to you all "My name is Tonji, & I have a Poker Problem", LOL. I have many addictions, Poker is the least of them, & the only harmless one, I love it.
