Hi gang.

I know there's been a lot of fuss over the new forum, and this was expected. I wasn't aware until very recently that the alternative skins wouldn't be available. However, I'm confident that the techies will sort it all out for us.

We do appreciate all the feedback as long as it's constructive rather than whingy. I understand how important blonde is to people, so I can sympathise with many of the complaints.

However, I urge you to remain patient. We're always listening to what you guys say, and we'll try our best to act accordingly. This is your site too, so I see no reason why your voices shouldn't be heard.

On a sidenote, what do you guys think of the new site outside of the forum?

I fully expect some teething problems, but please feel free to post your observations here, be they complimentary or not. But if you have a problem, please highlight it and the say how you would like it to change, etc.

Just give us your general likes and dislikes really.

Many thx for your time, I hope you like the new site. It's really hard pleasing everyone, but we've done our best.

And please don't tar and feather us for the pun in the 'Scene and Heard' section. (full onus on the ol' fella for that one, but I like it!)

Fire away.

I only thought you revamped the forum! The rest of the site looks really great. Easy to navigate, and lots of fantastic information.

I hate the forum color scheme, but thats the only negative, and its not a very important thing anyways.

Good job

Err....what pun?

I've written a heap more stuff & it will be in my (currently empty - sorry!) blog later tonight, hopefully. I was supposed to send it to snoops yesterday, but, well, you know how it is....

The new website is much better and the ability for people to upload their stories/articles directly will mean its worth visiting... The new forum is getting there and the blonde 2 theme has saved a lot of people headaches  Wink.     good stuff

liking the new site. It now looks like somewhere worth visiting now and again.

The new forum is terrible. Looks like a cheap suit.

Cracking, although the black text on brown background makes it a little tricky to read sometimes

I think the new site looks great a huge improvement, and now i have my old forum colours back im happy with this too, However (you knew there had to be one) the banner is really OTT
I hate that it takes up my screen width..

But other than that i think its very very nice.... and a job well done.

I'm with Bundle, the main site is cool, very nice.
I like the forum too (now the colour has been tweaked, nice one techies), the only thing is that bloody BANNER!!
I (now) understand the reasoning behind it and it IS a necessary evil but how about putting it on top so it's out of the way??
That won't effect any revenue will it?

Ian, this was my Post aboot Banners on the "default theme" thread.

"....The Ads.

Until, literally, a few hours before the launch, we had TWO Banners on the Forum in the Beta "Test" Site - a horizontal one across the top, & a "skyscraper" down the side.

We ummed & arred & argued for hours, we could not decide which, either, or both. We plumped, temporarily, for the Skyscraper, but we can change it if it's felt the Horizontal one is better.

It's a Catch-22 really.  We don't want the Banners to be intrusive, but they need a certain level of penetration or else they don't work!

We also have the option of "rotating banners", whch change every time a Member visits a new thread.

Cybertim's "betwen Posts" idea is an interesting one we never thought about. But the Techies will read this & tell us if it's do-able.

Thanks!...."

My current pesonal thinking is that you are right - I am gonna suggest to Dave & Co that we have one across the top, but NOT the skyscraper Banner down the side.

First, let me say, I think its great all the work that is being done on the site. Serious pats on the back to everyone involved.

However, now a (hopefully constructive) negative (eek).  I feel that the forum is a serious weak spot - it is very muddy indeed, confused, with too many shades of the same colour... and much too much grey (Yu-uck). There's a reason things like phpbb, SMF, invision, mambo and other bits of forum software, come with the defaults that they have - they're clear, elegant, and easy on the eye while maintaining a bit of a colourful splash.

Blonde2 is a tiny improvement but in general its still not great - it doesn't adhere to any basic user-interface guidelines, and these are things that are vital in a potentially confusing text laden area. Similarly the main page should have a white background under the text instead of light grey - you wouldn't believe how much difference it makes to ease of reading.

I mean all of this constructively, so please don't take it as though I don't appreciate your hard work!  Once again - great work on the code, the site, and the amount of good content is just fan-bloody-tastic! Keep up the great work guys Smiley

Thanks Jammer. All this feedback is excellent, we are having a Team Conference to review the changes later this week, so keep it coming.
