Whats all this then? Calm down eh!
Have the past 3 (maybe 4, not sure about Varkonyi) winners of the WSOP Main-event not been internet qualifiers and players?

I think Varkonyi qualified via a live satellite rather than an online one - but perhaps someone can confirm this as I'm not sure (off the top of my head)

I think my late evening of Blonde SNGs has been hijacked by having to keep my eyes open on this board!!

Anyway back to the original post which I managed to decipher....

I realise from my travels around the circuit and recognise from meeting lots of people that poker is a compulsive activity...it attracts bad uns and good uns like most gambling related activities...horse racing is the same, so is greyhound racing.....cheats and scoundrels share events with some of the nicest people you could ever meet.

For those with a compulsive tendency the temptation is always to think "the big win may be just around the corner" and to continue with a lifestyle that may involve borrowing or neglecting things that in the long run may prove more important

However for many people this is not the case and it is therefore in my opinion dangerous to generalise and pigeonhole all poker players into the category of family neglecting skint chancers!

As for Blonde's role in the poker scene I personally do not think it glamourises poker at all...sure various blondeites have great results and the sense of community built up here is fantastic...lifelong friendships have been built up from nothing more than an online conversation that turned into thousands of conversations

But for every thread saying "well done" there is a countervailing thread where someone is going thorugh a bad run or needs support.....and there are potentially 2900 of us to help anyone in those circumstances out with support or advice

Playing on t' internet can help your live game. Winning seats in satellites instead of haemorraging away lots of large buy-ins, making money without having to spend time away from your family etc.

Playing live can help your internet game too. A greater emphasis is placed on thinking about desicions in B&M play, that and the fact that it's more fun will help nurture a passion for poker that may otherwise have run dry playing purely in front of your PC.

As with all things in life, it's about finding the correct balance.

There will be losers in poker, in fact there will be lots and lots of them. I agree with the initial poster, it does take something special to play on the circuit.

Any fool can make decent coin from the internet though, I manage ffs.

I totally agree that this is not true of every bugger.

Some buggers get back to playing at home when they can no longer afford big buy-ins without running the risk of blowing their wad. They quit with wad still intact.

( When I was writing this, I had a message flash up on my screen.. something along the lines of  " There is a problem with your account, please phone Blonde.. Wayne at cashier" ). Who is Wayne?  What does that mean?

One of two things.

1. You are experiencing hallucinations

2. Blondepokerleague want you to contact them about your account?

Post of the week for me Red

The only song that still makes me cry is Angels - Robbie Williams. The video was playing when my best mate of 22 yrs phoned me to tell me that his mother had lost her fight against cancer - just at the line 'I'm loving angels instead'.
