I'm busy making T-shirts so haven't got time to do a full report but briefly;
69 runners (max 50) but well run by Rob and Olga.
total buy-ins 197 (incl reg) so 2000 pot
Just enough experienced players / dealers to keep the thing moving nicely.
Final called at 11.30ish. about 50/50 split vetween regular/semi-regular players and newbies.
new 30% prize structure (from memory) 600, 400, 300, 200, 150, 120, 100, 75, 50, 25 (ish, doesn't add up)
buffet break at midnight (free in a 10 comp, unreal)
I left it at 1.30 sih with 4 players left, including two newbies.
New blinds structure was excellent
plenty of play left at the final.
over all very friendly, competitive experience for all.
Two blondites at the final. RedSimon 8th-ish(sorry)
Phil 5th (1st Nottingham cash, well over due)
other blondites I saw, Malc-M (still not had a chance to speak to in person)
Bongo (not pointed out uuntil he left, will introduce myself next week.
Any others? didn't speak to any one but then many of us don't know each other by sight. next week I'll let you know what shuffleupshirt I'm wearing and it's be easier for everyone to spot each other pre-match. I was the guy wearing the Ace Magnet shirt last night. Phil had my poker players prayer shirt on (Dear Lord, please help me to break even, I need the money)

Well done Gala, top draw night.

Yeah, great night and can't belive i've finally cashed at Nottingham!

10th paid out 40 (not 25) which was decent as it meant you at least got your money back due to the 3 re-buys max structure. I think RedSimon came 10th and got that prize if i recall correctly.

Would love to know the final positions after I went out though, although I i didn't know names to be honest so not how much it will mean to me!

Thanks Dave, I saw that. It's quite scary giving up 'conventional' work to set up a business. It comes as somewhat of a relief to see some interest.

If anyone else out there intends to buy a shirt in september feel free to join up now and help my cnofidence level.

Yes i thought it was a great night, which seemed to be enjoyed by all. It was a bit different being one of the more experienced ones after a whole 3 months of live play, but it was nice to see new faces being attracted to the game. Also well done to the staff at notts for a well run event (tho im not sure Rob iused to his announcements being listened to). I will attempt to introduce myself in the future im rubbish at that kind of thing.

I got 9th ....50 not bad for just a top up  Cheesy I think 10th got 40.

Generally it was a big plus to see people playing(though at variable standards!) without the all too familiar screaming contests.

Thumbs up to the Gala, Rob Olga etc:

Plus points:

Limiting rebuys, card system seemed to work.

Blind levels (Changed recently)

Experienced players generally being patient with newbies

7.30 pm start. Great to have a final start at 11.30 pm. Definitely worth considering bringing K O forward from 9.15 on other nights

Buffet at midnight  Grin I know I needed that food!

Possible improvements?

I thought an hour for rebuys was a bit short 'cos of the newness of people the game was a bit slower than usual. 90 minutes?

An old bug bear, smoking. I guess that one's a long term aim.

Overall very pleased.

Glad to see I brought you enough luck to final Simon  Cheesy

It seems my mates finished 8th and 4th and so it was just me letting the side down by not winning a single hand.

All in all a great night, was good to put some names to faces aswell - I think a few of us will be coming next week as well.

Does anyone else think Malc M sounds a bit like Gordon Ramsay or is it just me?

Hello,  think I should introduce myself, I managed to come 1st in the tourney at gala last night( I was wearing a vintage v-neck red sweater).

Adam I dont know know if you remember me but almost a year ago I got hold of your email address from hendonmob forum and asked you some questions about tournies at gala( which you happily answered in detail), last night I finally got round to entering a tourny.

Now I know what you where wearing I believe started opposite you on the same table.

I Really not sure how I made final table, seemed to be short stacked all the way through freeze out period. playing a pocket pair or Ax all-in stragery. think luck must have been on my side because i came from behind when all-in a few times last night.

most of what happen on the final table seems like a blur, can't remember how i got heads up.

Nice work Jason. You definitely played that final well. When I left you were still (relatively) short and the #1 seat is/was very experienced Poker player.

I remember you Jason, glad you finally got round to it. You looked a bit nervous obviously but your game looked ok.

I made a 3 way chip count on my first visit Jan 2005 (second by 2000 chip) and there's been plenty between me and you. If you go in there with a decent basic understanding of the game and don't do anything stupid (like the 10,8 I couldn't put down tuesday Angry)you can do ok. if you're there next week I'll be in the bar 6.30 for a coke, feel free to join us. we have the beginnings of a healthy little crew here. maybe a Notts B team  behind Tikays Notts A.

Hope any advice I offered proved useful.
