With so few chips I'm all in PF.
8.5 big blinds leaves you no room to play, if you're going to raise 2.5bb you're leaving yourself 6 big blinds to play with. Are you really ever going to fold on the flop?
You can't make any sort of reasonable bet on the flop and fold so your options are All in on the flop or fold, or all in PF.
That aside the main reason you got called was because you gave him the correct odds to call and stack you with any ace.

He has to assume you're going all in on the flop regardless so he can call you for his 300 knowing he wins your 1700 if the ace comes + the 300 in blinds.
He's getting just under 7:1 if he hits and his odds of hitting the ace are much better than that.. ( I actually forget the exact odds of it - I havn't been playing holdem lately ). - Assuming you dont have an ace/he has a better kicker ( reasonable assumption given your stack size ).

Slightly worse than 6:1 chance of him hitting his ace.
