Missraise is actually justified in the comment

Yes it sucks when these things happen and it sure looks awful - but missraise is getting over 3-1 to make the call and will win the pot 28% of the time - with not enough chips to play a full round is probably getting better value to call here and hope that this is one of the 28 times out of 100 rather than fold and have to put half their stack in the following pot.

You just got to take it on the chin and carry on playing to the best of your ability without the bad beat affecting you.

Cheers Matt. it was just one of those that throw you every now and again. But good luck to `em thats what I say. I note you have the ability to edit your posts because your reply has change from the original?

You have pushed all in on the button and Missraise is getting over 3-1 pot odds.

If you have a pair of 9's or better then she is in big trouble and is not getting the correct odds to call

If you have a pair between 8's and 4's then she will win approx 28% of the time

If you have a pair of 3's or 2's she will win approx 45% of the time

If you have a non-pair but your hand contains a 9 or a 4 with a higher kicker then she will be in the region of 25% chance of winning

If you have a non-pair and your hand does not contain a 9 or a 4 then she could be anywhere between 31% and 40% chance of winning

So buy weighing up the possible hands you could be pushing all in on the button with chances are its unlikely that you have a hand 9's or better and therefore the call can be justified.

Yes, my apologies i did change my first post because when i first read it i thought the call was made after the flop which would have made it a bad call - but then rereading it i noticed that the call was made preflop and therefore it is justified as i have tried to explain better in my post above.

Still all in for me, you are so short the hands play themselves.

All fold to you, you have 88 and are short stacked . It's a no brainer a push is the only move to make.

I'd do exactly what you did, but then again i'd do exactly what she did if I was her too..
2200 in pot from ante's alone... she's already big blind...
like everyone said it's 3 to 1 on her chips...only way it's a bad call is if she is under 25% chance to win the hand.... which would mean you'd have to have pocket 9's or higher... which is unlikely considering with your stack I'd bloody move with 2,3 off.

I agree - in your shoes I'd have gone all in, in her's I'd have called.

I'd rather call a raise with 94 than A4 to be honest, at least she feels she has 6 live cards!  I think both hands play themselves, your raise is good and with any two cards and 10k to win, hers is a auto call.

At Luton on Friday a lady was short stacked with 300 chips in BB and 700 back.   The pot was raised to 1200 and called in 2 positions and she looked and folded.  Before she folded I jokingly (I assumed she would look and call regardless with over 5/1 for her money) asked if she had looked.  She did, she folded 85 and the 4,6,7 flop made her weep!
