In cash Games, well that's different. 50 or more earn a living "Live", & probably thousands do so Online.

Agreed. Tournamnets for show cash for dough and all that

Hey - you - are you back or still up the empire state building?

Yeah this is funny Hellmuth/Negreanu are deffo pro players, however most of thier incomes come from off the table these days.

They are the exception though, as Tikay says there are very few who are on the UK circuit as most have a buissness to cover them. Funny that the 2 Tikay mentions both have a deal. Without a deal how long could they go before the small margain and high variance caught up!

Personally i would say that the camel is someone who fits into that catergory but he makes a lot of dosh online.

I wonder if there is a tournament player out there who earns his living soley from Live comps

doubt it!
i suppose the best players who get the best results could be close to this situation but as they get the results they become more popular and therefore get endorsement and sponsorship deals so i would doubt there are many if any live players that derive their income just from live comps. - Maybe some five night a week club players who dont work but consistently win £20, £30, £50 comps are in this bracket. - steady income, good players but the events they win aren't high profile.

I can name 3 of these at Walsall off the top of my head, with 11 comps per week it is very possible for even the rockiest rock to make the money the required percentage of times to make a decent living.
I have also seen a couple of these go bust chasing the "dream" during fessies etc. but the sensible ones stick to sats for the bigger comps or just the odd £300-£500 comp every few months.

Of course not.

There are probably a handful of these at Notts too. - albeit they probably play cash games every night too.

The definition of a PRO is somewhat different in Belfast, you need to be long term unemployed, wear only tracksuits and own a variety of garish jewlery(usually indicating your political persuasion) purchased from cash converters, also an internet connection is required.
These PRO's tend to be well known at the live tournaments purely because they tell you they are PRO's as they stare you down with intense menace. I played at a table with one such pro named "STICHES" and the only reason I knew his name was because I could clearly read it on his heavily tattooed neck Cheesy Cheesy
