My father in law has run 13 london marathons, now at 54 he knows his serious marathon timing days are numbered. last year he didn't get in, over 70 VIP/celebraty places were booked and never used this year.
Even worse he was looking at a serious time this year, but 6 weeks before injured himself and had to stop running.
He still ran it this weekend but with the chance of a good time gone he dressed as a giant flower for the Antony Nolan trust, who he donated bone marrow to (very painful im told) and saved a young girls life.
He ran 4hrs 20 mins (in fancy dress) whilst injured. travelling back through london on the tube with his medals and clearly having run a marathon and in considerable pain, people still had to arseheadness to push past him to take seats on the tube forcing him to stand for 40 mins.
People like him make the london marathon what it is, a test of the physical and mental limits of an individual,(something the jade Goodies of this world should consider before signing on the line)
Don t think its too late to sponser him BTW, let me know if you do.
