im a 24 year old guy, 6''4 and a big lad (rugby & football) and yet am scared at the thought of getting up tomoz morning.

I do not have a driving licence but tomoz is the day.

I know that sounds silly but I have never needed too drive - upto now. I have my test tomoz at 9.47am and am literally shitting bricks.

Can anyone offer any advice

rescue remedy from chemists all over the place. Works wonders, calms the nerves, a few drops on the tongue and away you go.

And...if you fail its not the end of the world - all the best people pass third time  Cool

Good luck

Tell yourself you're going to pass several times over.

Millions of people drive cars.  Even *I* can drive a car, how hard can it be?

I won't tell you how many times I took my test, but I had many (not through fault of my own but I won't go into that now) All I did each test was just go for it... be polite to the examiner, try and do everything properly. Take your time with things, if you stall, don't worry about it, just start again making sure you do everything right. The test that I passed I messed up the parallel park, I'd always been good at it but that day I went in at totally the wrong angle, I sat there and sighed, the woman said 'Just correct what you've done wrong' so I didn't touch the kerb, I pulled out of the space a tried again, I didn't even get a minor for it.

Main piece of advice: Relax and take your time.

Extra piece of advice: Know where the horn is in the car you're taking your test in, on one of my tests the examiner asked me to test the horn and I was looking for it for about 2 minutes... Oooooops! Smiley

Good Luck - let us know how you get on!

As a 2nd-time passee I can assure you that anything you do wrong will be remembered long into the future.  So, if everything goes tits up tomorrow, you'll actually be a better driver at the end of the day!

The driving test is a weird thing - a bizarrely formal experience in a situation where you're at the mercy of a whole bunch of idiots out on the roads and pavements!

Best advice I can give is to not fear being nervous!  The fact that you are shows that you are taking this seriously and its a completely natural thing.  Don't let the nerves overwhelm you and just focus on the fact that you've prepared for this as best you can.

Mr F had a similar post a while back about a table tennis tournament which might be worth digging out.  I seem to recall he was going through something similar and got lots of good advice.

Good luck!

Good luck fella.  I'm with a few of the others... have a few beers before your test.  Make sure you tell the instructor you've had a few though... then if you do pass, you'll be a qualified drink driver!

Don't be nervous and make sure you are observant. i.e looking over your shoulder whilst going round a round-a-bout etc...

Good Luck

It's a lot easier than people make out. Just relax, you know how to drive.....

Worst thing that can happen is you fail, its not like you can't take it again!

If you really want to shit yourself take a commercial pilots licence test and think of the £1k re-test fee!!!

the advice i would give is take 2 mins to think about your situation.

youve took plenty of lessons. youve prepared for this.

your happy with your level of driving and so is your instructor or you wouldnt have booked your test.

treat it like another lesson with a different instructor.

be polite, observsant and careful ( obviously not too careful or hesitant )

at the end of the 45 mins youll probably think youve failed ( i was sure i had ) but you wont have ( i didnt )

and youll be wondering what the hell you were nervous about.

 good luck

ps. make sure you know where all the switches for your lights are.
