Doyle Brunson is one of a number of poker stars who are challenging the use of sunglasses at the felt. According to the 72-year-old legend, this recent phenomenon is unprofessional and their use should be banned.
Although there are a number of other tells available to opponents, many players do identify the eyes as a giveaway to the strength of someone's hand. However, many of these pros will don the shades themselves in order to save themselves from any unnecessary disadvantage.
Personally, I'm backing Brunson in his quest. I'd love to see sunglasses banned and witness poker become a more pure activity in which players are unable to hide behind any such accessories. However, regardless of my wishes, I can't see cardrooms enforcing the ban any time soon.
