For those that have been living in a cave for the last several years, the World Series of Poker has emerged as one of the most popular events on the planet, thousands of poker fanatics making the annual pilgrimage over to Vegas for that shot at the 'big one'.
And so, with the Bellagio and Monte Carlo biggies now done and dusted, it's time for the long awaited WSOP 2007, which kicked off officially last Friday at the Rio Convention Centre at the Rio Hotel and Casino.
As always, blonde poker will be bringing you all the results from every event, paying particular attention to the famous names, Brits and bondeites, all of which will be specifically highlighted. Hopefully this admittedly biased angle will offer something different to the other sites who I'm sure will publish a seemingly endless list brimming with unknown names that you simply won't care for.
At time of writing, we are approaching the end of the first event of the Series, the Casino Employees World Championship which offers all those hard working and quite possibly demoralised (these guys sure work hard!) members of staff a shot at some big bucks - at $500 it's certainly accessible to most, which unsurpsingly led to a chunky field of 1,039.
You may not be overly interested in hearing that the overnight chip leader was Loc Hoang with 61,200, but it may raise a rye smile to read that second had a platry in comparison 37,800 - quite a difference!
