August, the beginning of the football season, the summer holidays finally coming to an end and also, it is the return of the European Poker Tour. Season 4 kicks off in Barcelona on August 28th, with the buy-ins for the regular tournaments having been increased from €5,000 to €8,000 (apart from the new events) but the main event in Monte Carlo in April will remain a €10,000 event. An extra day has also been added to the events also, with a whole day now being set aside for the final table.
This is no doubt in an expectation of increased numbers after last year's grand final was forced to include an additional day at the last minute. The aforementioned new events are Prague, and, in a move that is sure to raise eyebrows, the Pokerstars Carribean Adventure, in the Bahamas. With the former a seemingly obvious choice to host a EPT event for the expanding tour, the incorporation of the latter stretches the tour from being a continental one to becoming truly global enough to challenge the WSOP/WPT dominance.
