Columnist, author, campaigner, cricketer, poker player - is there anything this man doesn't do? If there is, then watch out, because he'll be doing it soon, and better than everyone else too.

A thoroughly nice chap with a passion for anything that he puts his mind to, Des Wilson is set to follow his critically-acclaimed 'Swimming with the Devilfish' with what is likely to be a controversial history of poker entitled ‘Ghosts at the Table’.

Keenly anticipated by the poker world on both sides of the Atlantic, it will be published by Mainstream in the UK and Europe in October and in the US in the New Year.

Wilson spent two years researching it, criss-crossing America in the process. The book is packed with amazing characters and extraordinary stories and is not afraid to challenge well-established myths. (He even raises serious questions over the famous hand of 'aces and eights' purportedly held by Wild Bill Hickok when he was shot.)

The book, published in with 16 pages of dramatic pictures,  spans 150 years of poker and is described my WPT presenter and top poker player Mike Sexton as “the new poker classic”.

An ideal Christmas present, it will be on sale from October 4 at £16.99.
