The Schedule for the Grand Final of the Grosvenor UK Poker tour at Grosvenor Victoria casino in London has now been unveiled. The 9-day long festival gets underway on Saturday 24th November and concludes on Sunday 2nd December. In addition to the much anticipated £3,000 Main event, the festival will also include the inaugural GUKPT Heads Up Championship.Taking place from 24th-28th November, this prestigious heads up event will cost £1,500 to enter and will be restricted to a maximum of 64 players. Tour sponsor Blue Square poker is adding £10,000 to the prize pool of the event and the eventual winner will also secure a free entry into the £3,000 Grand Final Main Event. Seats for the Heads Up event will be going on sale at the Vic from Monday 17th September on a first come first serve basis, but some seats will be put aside for live and online satellites. Details of satellites to this event will be announced shortly.
Blue Square is adding a total of £50,000 in prizes to the week. Seats in the £3,000 main event will given to the winners of four of the other supporting events as well as the winner of the heads up tournament. Additional prizes will also be given to the winner of the main event, the overnight chip leader on each day of the competition and the player who exits on the bubble, just missing out on the official prize money. Satellites for the main event will also take place each afternoon during the festival.
The £3,000 event is the main attraction and brings the inaugural year of the GUKPT to a close. It is expected that up to 400 players will take part and that the prize pool will exceed £1m, with a first prize in the region of £400,000. The final table will be recorded by Sunset & Vine for transmission on Channel 4. It will be shown as the final two episodes of the highly acclaimed television series later this year.
