paddypowerpoker.com today announces details of the Grand Final of their groundbreaking Battle of the Mags competition. On the 8th November, readers of the Europe’s top poker magazines will compete in a televised single table tournament for the Battle of the Mags title and more than £14,000 in major poker tournament entries.
The Grand Final, to be held in London, is a truly cosmopolitan affair with players from Ireland, the UK, Poland, Romania, Germany and Denmark all ready to do battle for their favourite magazines.
The winner-takes-all final table will be a real showcase for the top tournament player as, with no prize for second, players simply can’t fold into the money. On top of the coveted Battle of the Mags title, the champion will walk away with free entry to the €3 Million Guaranteed 2008 Irish Open as well as two EPT circuit events of their choosing. The total value of the package is worth more than £14,000.
The final table lines up as follows:
Antepost: Grzegorz Swieboda (Poland)
Cardplayer: Krzysztof Zajac (Poland)
Flush: Daniel Ernstberger (Germany)
Gambling Online Magazine: Farcus Radu (Romania)
Online Gambler: Lars Henrik Buschmann Nielsen (Denmark)
Poker Europa: Ronan McLughlin (Ireland)
Poker Pro Europe: John Donnelly (Ireland)
Total Poker: Tina Walker (UK)
Over the course of the summer, tournament sponsors paddypowerpoker.com ran a series of freerolls exclusive to each of the participating magazines. The cream has risen to the top and the final 8 are now preparing to do battle in front of the TV cameras. The Battle of the Mags Grand Final will premiere on Sky TV Channel 843 at 8pm on Friday, 14th December. Repeats will run throughout the following week.
Paddy Power, Communications Manager for paddypowerpoker.com, has been delighted with the success of Battle of the Mags. “Each of the online tournaments attracted large fields of high quality players and it would not surprise me at all if the Battle of the Mags champion went on to a huge payday at either the Irish Open or the EPT. It is obvious from the standard of play we have seen that the players have gained a real expertise in the game and learnt from the excellent strategic advice they read in their favourite magazines.”
The paddypowerpoker.com Battle of the Mags Grand Final will be produced by So Productions at the Wapping Studios in South East London and executive produced by Sam Orams.
