Yes, it's true, we are indeed to be honoured by the presence of Mike Caro at this year's Irish Poker Open in Dublin.

Often sited as a one of the best draw players in the game, Caro is now focused on cleaning up at Hold’Em as he heads over to the Jurys Ballsbridge Hotel in Dublin to fly the flag for America and take home the coveted title.

With such a strong field expected, the ‘Mad Genius’ will have his hands more than full. Familiar faces such as Wernick, Citrone, Jackson, Trumper, and Shipley will all be appearing, not to mention the local competition in Parkinson, O’Dea, and WSOP finalist Andy Black.

They may be tough competition, but Caro is the master of physical reads, and will surely have one or two tricks up his sleeve. The Mad Genius’s book ‘Mike Caro’s Book of Tells – The Body Language of Poker’ is a best-seller in poker and has been discussed in over 40 other gaming books.

In echoing my thoughts, a PaddyPower spokesman said, ‘We’re wildly thrilled to have such a legend come play in the Irish Open. With Caro’s ability to read people he’s sure to put the fear into anyone who sits down at his table.’

In addition to playing the event, Caro has also kindly volunteered to release a few pearls of wisdom at the Graduates Memorial Building (GMB) at the Trinity College in Dublin. Held at 5.30pm 14th April, this lecture will be followed by an F&Q session plus a book signing.

Caro plays in the €3,200 buy-in paddypowerpoker.com Irish Open 2006 in Jurys Ballsbridge Hotel from April 14-17th. For more details, please click here
