Boris Becker, Shane Warne, Michael Greco - there are numerous celebrities who have jumped on the poker bandwagon with their eyes firmly fixed on the gold, but few will be as voluptuous and easy on the eyes as the latest star to enter the fray, Abi Titmus.
Best known for her controversial relationship with presenter John Leslie, renowned glamour model Abi Titmus has become the latest in a long line of celebrities to pick up a deck of cards. With poker remaining a male dominated recreation, one might expect Abi to be timid at the table, but as a former Page 3 girl, Abi could well have enough confidence to take it to the men and show them what she's made of.
However, her first test shall be against her fellow females, as Abi Titmus has been confirmed as one of fifty entries in next month's LadbrokesPoker.com European Ladies Championship. Entering into its third year, the ELC pits some of Europe's most fearsome female players against each other in the bid for a $30,000 first prize.
Excited about taking part in the tournament, Abi Titmuss said: "I've been playing quite a bit of poker over the past few months and enjoy being a woman playing in what is predominately seen as a man's game. The fact that women-only tournaments like the Ladbrokes European Ladies Championship have been so successful proves that times are changing. I'm delighted to be involved but I think the prize money is safe!"
Within those fifty seats will be a number of spots for online qualifiers, many of whom may well turn up in a dress and a wig with a suspicious stubble. To find out more, please visit the Ladbrokes Poker Site.
