This past week, local boy Pat O’Callaghan outlasted over 50 online qualifiers to take the title of ‘Paddy Pat’ and a WSOP package worth €12,500.The promotion, set up by gaming powerhouse PaddyPower, rewarded the last man standing in this week’s Irish Poker Open, and, after being eliminated in a very admirable 19th place, O’Callaghan became that lucky individual.
“I know Vegas but this will be a great thrill and I’m over the moon to have won the ticket. I knew I had a fair chance when it got down to the last three in the competition as I had a lot of chips but it was still hard as people knew I wanted the ticket and were gunning for my chips.’
Good luck to Pat in July. If he can emulate the success of fellow countryman Andy Black, then he’s sure to be a very happy chappy indeed.
