As Europe's biggest pot limit hold'em tournament, it is with great joy and relief that I announce the return of the Grosvenor Grand Prix. Based to grace Grosvenor Walsall shores, this year's outing will commence on Thursday 30th October and conclude on Sunday 2nd November, at which point, one lucky chappy will be crowned the Grosvenor Grand Prix Champion for 2008.

One aspect that makes this event so unique is that all participants must qualify via a satellite to play in the main event. With no way to buy in directly, players will once again battle it out in the qualification stages in various Grosvenor casinos nationwide. The super satellite qualifiers are all £50 pot limit Hold’em rebuy tournaments in which one in every eight players qualifies for the final stages in Walsall. The live super satellite qualifiers take place on selected Saturday afternoons from September 6th to October 25th and play will start simultaneously at 2pm in the 20 participating Grosvenor and G casinos on qualifying days. But don't fret if you can't bear to leave the comfort of your own armchair, as online super satellites will also be taking place on selected Thursday evenings online at Blue Square Poker from 11th September to 23rd October.

Now in its sixth year, the event has been incorporated into the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) and sponsor Blue Square Poker is adding £25,000 to this year’s prize pool. In addition, the winner of the event will receive a free seat into the £3,000 GUKPT Grand Final as well as a seat into the tour’s £75,000 Champion of Champions tournament. Marcus Bebb-Jones took gold last year, and Zahir Aslam the year before that. Who's it going to be this year? As the big giant lottery finger claims, "It could be you".
