The ultimate in deep-stack No-limit challenges finally came to a conclusion after a gruelling week playing poker and staying at the Bellagio (slightly less gruelling). The $25,000 WPT Championship title went to Joe Bartholdi, a young pro whose elimination of half the final table set him heads-up against David Matthew.
Matthew had qualified online (yes, your computer hours can even get you here - to the Bellagio final table) and eventually settled for second place and almost $2 million.
Close (well, one spot down) finished none other than blondeite Roland de Wolfe (pictured left), featured on our News by Snoopy just a day previously as he relentlessly headed for the final table. His $1 million prize tops even his first place payout in the WPT event in Paris last year; I guess it was one of those times he didn't go home early...
Men 'The Master' Nguyen, 2005 Player of The Year, took sixth spot with James Van Alstyne in fifth, and Claus Nielson fourth.
Congratulations to Roland and everyone who gave this Big One their best shot.
