Jen Versus The Norwegians

Today has been one of the oddest days of my short but immensley fun updating career. After staying up through the night, a real matchsticks in between eye-lids job, Jen and I jumped on the 7.20 plane to Oslo and headed into, what was then believed to be, the middle of nowhere.

However, to our amazement, we did in fact manage to find our way across the Norwegian border, as Sweden is the nearest nation holding legal comps, and radar in on the 18-30's-esque holiday camp which, for the next 3 days, is to be the home of 300 plus Norwegians...

Oh yeah, and two slightly disoirentated Brits.

Whilst I have the arduous task of memorising a long list of unnecessarily complex Scandinavian names, a challenge to which I am delighted to embrace, Jen will be taking on the perhaps even tougher task of conquering a whole hoard of Norwegian talent.

Notable entires into this 'talent' bracket include the likes of Edgar Skjervold, who finished 2nd in the Copenhagen EPT, and the much feared online high-roller Johnny Lodden (pictured left).

Also, after liaising with the likable, but slightly nutty, BA Kildalen, I have unveiled even more Scandinavian sharks. Particular threats to Jen's potential first placing are Age Spets (winner of the Betsson Cruise Main Event), Henning Granstad (2004 Speed Poker World Champion), and 19-year old whizz kid Kristian Ulriksen (pictured right).

This is not to mention the two most famous Norwegian teams, the Bettson Boys and the Norsemen.

The Norsemen team, as well as being blessed with the services of their handy coach Rolf Woods, also holds invaluable poker weapons in Sverre Sundbo (pictured left and will clearly be delighted by his visual inclusion), Anders Berg (4 cashes in WSOP) and Torstein Iversen... an extremely dangerous player who our very own El Blondie has know for in excess of 10 years.

So, with all these obstacles in her way, can the Unusual Suspect Winner do the unthinkable and see off all this Scandinavian talent to become an unlikely but well deserved Norwegian Champion. By the looks of the photo, you'd think not. But this lass has a few tricks up her sleeve and may suprise a few of these Norwegian wonderkids...

Watch out folk!

... Jen's bringing home the bacon.
