September’s Liverpool festival more than lived up to expectations with 230 Main Event players (including a record 52 online qualifiers) battling it out for a £120,000 prize pool, with over 290 runners in the side events. The Teesside leg, to be held at the Gala Casino in Stockton-on-Tees, is an equally tantalising prospect, with what promises to be a great mix of amateur players and the more seasoned circuit players, in a week of high quality, deep stack tournaments. The Tour is really gaining a strong following of 'regulars', with players appreciating a well organised, well dealt tournament, with an excellent atmosphere.
As usual, the main event will be a £500+£50 no limit-hold'em freezeout, with two starting days (day 1a Friday 24th October, day 1b Saturday 25th October) with players returning for the final day on Sunday 26th October. With a capacity of 240 runners, the estimated £125,000 prize pool (including £5,000 added by Galapoker.co.uk) will surely woo poker fanatics up north in their masses.
First place will automatically receive a £2,000 bonus package into the Grand Final Main Event in December, with second and thirrd finishers guaranteed main event bonus seats into the £500+£50 main event in Bristol (2nd and 3rd October). And in keeping with all sell-out events on this year’s tour, demand for Teesside will be high. Here’s how you can secure a seat:
(1) Enter an online satellite on www.galapoker.co.uk – at least 20 packages (including buy-in and expenses) with four guaranteed seats a week, daily satellites including two daily freerolls
(2) Qualify via a live satellite in a Gala Casino – over 30 seats available. The live qualification dates and times will be published on the www.gcbpokertour.com website as soon as they are available
(3) Buy in direct via the cashier at any Gala Casino:

Gala Casinos Tournament Director, Robin Blair, said, “We’ve seen a great mix of locals and regulars on the tour this year, with the locals more than holding their own. Numbers have been strong – we’ve even been turning them away – and the quality of poker just gets better, but we are still seeing the novices making the cash so it really is anyone’s game. But Teessiders in particular have really got behind the tour, so this is a sort of homecoming, and we are really looking forward to going back.”
