If you live in the Midlands area and fancy a shot at a WSOP 2006 Main Event seat worth $10,000, then rev up the engine pronto and get your rears down Grosvenor Walsall.
The promotion may have commenced 2 weeks ago, but it's not too late to fulfil your dream of the big time. With Walsall's Poker League II running until the 25th of June, there is plenty of time for you to rack up those vital points and book yourself a seat in the freeroll play-off due to take place on Saturday 1st July. 75 qualify, so there really is plenty of room available!
The points are awarded as follows:
Entry -- 10 points
1st -- 25 points
2nd -- 20 points
3rd -- 15 points
4th -- 10 points
5th -- 8 points
6th -- 6 points
7th -- 4 points
8th -- 3 points
9th -- 2 points
Every competition is included, with the exception of Rookie, Speed, and Satellite tournaments.
With Walsall increasing the amounts of points allocated to the top places, thereby lessening the importance (in points) of the mere entry, the league structure is much improved and concerns itself more with the performance of the player, rather than simply the level of attendance. Obviously, attendance is the key, but with so much time remaining, many points can still be acrued.
Once entered into the freeroll, you will then find yourself playing for the WSOP seat, not to mention the $2,500 being offered for flights, hotel, and spending money. The chip allocation for the play-off final will be proportionate to the points garnered from the league, thereby forcing a handicap on the folk with less points.
But, it's still anyone's game. Hit the right cards at the right time, and you could well find yourself sitting across the felt from the greats...
Vegas, baby, yeah!
