Although James, aged 22, has only been playing poker for a few years, he's already won over $300,000 in cash and prizes. He's already put some of his winnings to good use by paying his mums university fees!
James, who topped the LEOCOP Leaderboard in the recent Ladbrokes online poker festival winning a total of nearly $45,000, can also count the Ladbrokespoker Caribbean cruise as well as poker trips to Madrid and Killarney in Ireland amongst his many wins. Eerily, James whose alias online at Ladbrokes is James666 triumphed against over 600 players in the LEOCOP Sunday Deepstack with a set of sixes!
"I was studying media studies at A level and then got a job as a Bar Manager," he said, "but was introduced to poker one night in my local. It's such fun playing I never looked back. My parents weren't initially pleased with my career choice, but seeing how dedicated I am and how much I won from a recent trip to Vegas they've come around slightly!"
Somehow though I don't think James will let the many wins go to his head. Whereas most of us would crack open a bottle of champagne to celebrate the cash rolling in, James treated himself to a Pukka Pie from the local supermarket when he won his first big cash ($12,000)! As well as paying his mother's university fees, he has also invested some of his winnings in a short film about the Kent countryside, directed by his friend Neil Neenan also from Canterbury that is due to be aired on C4 shortly. it seems that whatever happens James will always consider Kent home!
