This June, Irish poker legend Padraig Parkinson (left) will host the very first in a series of poker tournaments, all aimed at supporting homeless charity, Dublin Simon Community, and amassing the magnificent sum of one million Euros!

As the precursor to the Irish Poker Tour’s Grand Final, Parkinson is expecting a record number of attendees, and is confident that the venture will get off to a financially successful start.

The event is set to take place at the City West Hotel in Dublin at 8pm on Thursday June 1st, with registration at 4pm. The entry fee is €300 (+€30 reg), with €100 going directly to Simon Dublin. The other €200 will then make up the prize fund.

Paddy Power, spokesman for the bookmaker said, “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the ordinary punter to sit down with some of the best in the world for only €300. Normally you’d need thousands of Euros to play against these guys. At this event, you can bust out a world champion for next-to-nothing and dine out on the story for the rest of your life!”

Amusingly, John Duthie, Poker Million winner and founder of the European Poker Tour (EPT) said, “I never thought I’d see the day I’d be getting on a plane to play in a €300 tournament.”

In addition to John Duthie (right), the following stars are also expected to participate in the event, all of whom will be offering poker lessons throughout the day (which is why you probably don’t see tikay’s name on the list):

Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliot
The Hendon Mob
Andy Black (below)
Scott Gray
Donnacha O’Dea
John Duthie,
Julian Gardiner,
Mad’ Marty Wilson
Ivan Donaghy
George McKeever

So, with so many stars in attendance, the event is odds on favourite to be a roaring success. If you fancy being a part of this incredible challenge, then mark down June 1st in your calendar, and head on over to Ireland to help Padraig and co. reach that magic 7-figure sum.
