Daniel Nutt from South London has won the first DTD Grand Slam Event "the Main Event", a £250,000 guaranteed £1,000 buy-in tournament held over five days.
192 runners contested the event, which led to some disappointment by the organisers as they had to provide a £58,000 overlay on the guarantee. This though, together with a tremndous structure that saw no blind pressure on the average stack throughout the tournament..20,000 starting chips, two hour clock...provided tremendous value for the players
A variety of reasons were put forward for the guarantee shortfall, most notably proximity to the WSOP and the Champions League final and it is to be hoped that DTD decide to persist with the remain two Grand Slam events in 2009 in September and December
Nutt beat a high powered field in which the likes of Jon"Skalie" Kalmar and John"PunkFloyd2 Conroy went deep but he eventaually triumped heads-up over former GUKPT Walsall runner-up and serial DTD Finalist Pete Charamlambous.
Well done to Daniel, and very well done to DTD for a fabulous tournament
