Night of the Hunter at GUKPT Manchester as Dramatic Reversals Characterise Final Day

Lewis Hunter has won the first leg of the 2012 GUKPT, beating two-time Sunday Million winner Kevin Steele heads up and a total field of 171 to win £49,600 and his first title.  The 24 year old from Scotland saw his fortunes rise and fall over three dramatic days of poker and won a series of nail-biting hands to capture the trophy.  There were 17 places paid in total.

The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour’s first leg of 2012 took place in Manchester from the 27th- 29th of January.  No fewer than four GUKPT satellite qualifiers made its prestigious final table – including 3rd place finisher Allan Doyle who was playing his first ever Main Event on the back of a £75 satellite win.  Both he and runner-up Kev Steele won GUKPT Shoal Survivor prizes for outlasting the other qualifiers in their category (live and online respectively) - £1,000 of free GUKPT tournament entries each.
