In his recently released book 'Swimming With The Devilfish', Des delves into the fascinating lives of several established poker characters, of which he refers to as the 'Usual Suspects'
As he tracks down these 'Usual Suspects', he obtains giblets of information, accruing anecdotes and stories that few have heard before.
How does John Shipley really feel about his 2002 WSOP demise? How did Lucy Rokach manage to lose £40,000 in just one night? What did Carlo Citrone think when the authorities turned up on his doorstep?
All these questions, and more, are answered in Des's incredible book, one which shines a light on those dark corners that are often brushed aside by the glitz and glammer of the poker lifestyle.
Don't be decieved by the title. Although the Devilfish is the focus of attention in the first few chapters, Des doesn't choose to linger on just one character, instead wishing to move on to a range of different players; young, old, rich, broke. Many of the familiar faces get a mention, and there is no doubt in my mind that you'll learn something about these individuals that you never knew before.
