As the Grosvenor Victoria's £5,000 Main Event reaches Day 3, just 4 competitors will be returning to fight it out for the 90k prize, one of whom will be chip-leader Liam 'The Gentleman' Flood (right).
As experienced players such as Mickey Wernick, Stuart Nash, Willie Tann, and co have proved, there is life in the old dogs yet. In fact, recent comps have shown that whilst the likes of JP and Luke Patten are making the big bucks, veterans such as the Irishman Liam Flood are still capable of mixing it with the young guns.
Although just 4 will be returning tomorrow, they can at least rest assured that they will be guaranteed a profit. With little over 40 players turning up for the event (a number that was predicted by many), it's no suprise that the bubble was located around 5th position. However, as Dave Clayton dropped out of the comp in 6th place, the remaining players decided that 5th place wouldn't go home empty-handed after all. Keir Fitzgibbon took that final exit of the night, but left with £4,000 - a grand less than his initial buy-in, but of some consolation nonetheless.
So, moving into Day 3, the overnight chip counts are as follows:
Liam Flood -- 200,300
Willie Tann (left) -- 90,500
Marc Goodwin -- 84,800
Osman Mustanoglu -- 74,400
Good luck to blondeites Willie and Marc, our support will be with you.
But with Flood holding a chip-lead of over 100k, my spidey senses reckon it'll be the old guard who comes out on top.
Tune in to tomorrow's live update to find out...
