(1) Pre-WSOP

Ok, I have been asked to write a blog of my upcoming WSOP experience and I was happy to oblige. I dont envisage it being as compelling to read as Jen's tournament reports or TightEnd's strategy articles, but I'lll give it a go nevertheless.

A little about me, my name is Paul, but everyone I know (except my mum) calls me pab, and most of my online poker aliases have pab in there somewhere. I feel very fortunate to be in the position I am at the moment. I completed university last year, went travelling for 6 months (unbelievable experience) and now I currently play poker for a living. Poker has taken me to the bahamas and San Francisico already this year with Vegas (obv) and Aruba to come. I even went to Walsall to!! I have no idea how long the whole poker experience will last, but thats a whole seperate issue and I'm just enjoying the lifestyle at the moment.

I won my WSOP seat on about my 5th attempt I think, I had set aside $3,000 to try and win a seat and if it didnt happen by then, nevermind, there's always next year. 2 out of my first 3 satellites I bubbled the seat (heartbreaking at the time) but picked up extra $$ to help win a seat eventually. I finally cracked it on Paradise Poker, it was a $500 entry with a smallish field and 2 seats on offer, I won a crucial race 3 handed and it's off over the Atlantic i go!!

I plan to play in at least one other WSOP event, $5k short handed, and then maybe some of the $1k events at the Bellagio, but will have more of an idea once I become aquainted in vegas. As far as expectations for the main event go, I'm a realist and would be happy if I cashed, with anything extra as a bonus.

That's about it for now, I am currently in Munich still trying to come to terms with England's exit from the World Cup, sigh......

[Ed note: badpab flies out to Vegas on the 16th. Keep an eye on his blog as Paul, and the rest of the blondeites, hit the City of Sin for a summer of hardcore gambling]
