Another packed house at Gala Notts tonight, 87 runners, who generated a total prize pool of £10,770, meaning over £4k to the winner - not too bad for a £30 comp. There were 362,000 chips in play.

The Final began at around 0145, & the table looked like this:
Seat 1, Sean O'Donnell, 18,000. Seat 2, Rob Yung, 28,500
Seat 3, tikay, 31,000 Seat 4, Roy Taylor, 23,000
Seat 5, Saaid Pakrouz, 24,000 Seat 6, Dionysiou, (Greek Jack) 54,500
Seat 7, Ash Abdullah, 11,000 Seat 8, B Neville, 79,500
Seat 9, Julian "Yo-Yo" Thew, 70,500 Seat 10, Lane, 22,000

Rob Yung was just back from his heroics in the WPT where he narrowly missed out on a money finish, what a coup THAT would have been for Notts.

Tikay was making his third final at Notts in 5 attempts in 2005, & Ash Abdullah is almost an ever present in Notts Finals, he has a real solid game.

And of course we had Thewy in yet another Final, deep stacked as ever.

And once again, it was a crash bang wallop start to a Notts Final, with Lane in seat 10 clashing with tikay in seat 3 in hand # 3. Lane was holding top 2 pair on the A-7-5 flop, tikay K-5, but Lane trap-checked his monster, & the free card was to prove fatal, as the 5 paired on the turn, giving tikay a set. And NOW Lane moved in, a card too late, tikay RR'd him all-in, & after some thought, the unlucky Lane called & failed to fill up. Out 10th, £220.

2 hands later, Sean in seat 1 R'd with A-T, but lucky tikay was sitting with KK, & that was Sean out, 9th, £270.

Very next hand (we don't waste time at Notts!) it was Saaid in seat 5 who had KK & RR'd Thewey, who was holding 55. A flop & turn of 6-8-4-J increased Thewy's outs by 4, but while we were all waiting for the 7 to drop for his straight, he caught his set of fives on the river, & that was Saaid unluckily gone in 8th place, £320. So 3 players gone first 6 hands.

Hand 7 was no exception, but this was 3 way action and a monster pot. Short stacked Ash moved in with KQ, Thewy RR'd with QQ (so he DOES have genuine hands sometimes..) & Greek Jack RRR'd all-in with 88. A tantalising flop of 4-5-7 left Thew in great shape, but the almost inevitable 6 rivered to give Jack an improbable straight. Ash gone in 7th (£430), Thewy seriously wounded, & Jack now chip leader. 7 hands, 4 players out!

And hand 8 saw yet another exit, this was amazing stuff. Thewy was, as always after a beat, "on the tear", & he could have held anything when he R'd Rob Yung, so Rob moved in with his K-7. But Thewy had a real hand, AQ, and with board of 6-8-T-A-3, that was Rob Yung out in 6th for £540.

Thewy continued to R at every opportunity, but when he R'd on hand 12, tikay found himself with A-J suited. Now, as Paul "dot com" Phillips is fond of saying, "what are the range of hands" this guy would raise with in that spot? Well, frankly, he could have ANYTHING. And whilst A-J is certainly not usually in the category of hands to RR with, tikay felt he was ahead, RR'd, & all the chips went in. Thewy A-8, tikay A-J, & Julian gone in 5th spot for £650. 12 hands, & 6 players had busted out!

2 hands later, B Neville led out for 21k with A-8, "lucky" tikay had the kings again, & that was another exit, so just 3 left.

Now it was the turn of tikay & Roy Taylor to clash, tikay holding A-K, & Roy A-9, so tikay was something like 75%-25% to to take it down. A massive pot developed, over 190k, & all the chips went in on the 2-3-6 flop. But just as tikay was preparing to grasp 2nd spot & the chip lead, a 9 dropped on the river, pah! They should BAN river cards. So that was tikay gone in 3rd spot for £1,070.

Greek Jack & Roy Taylor, virtually level on chips, quickly agreed a chop of some £3k each.

And that was that - all over in 35 minutes!

Great atmosphere at Notts again, and tremendous value. Long may it last.
