After a third party interference had elevated threats of a law suit, the two parties, World Poker Tour Enterprises and The Travel Channel, have finally settled their differences and come to an amicable agreement. It has now been confirmed that the Professional Poker Tour (PPT) will be broadcast in late 2006 on America's Travel Channel, the current home of poker phenomenon World Poker Tour.

With 2.5 million dollars in the prize kitty and 200 of the world's toughest competitors battling it out, the PPT promises to be one hell of a show. The game's highest ranked players will finally cross swords in what is being described as one of the greatest pound for pound fields in poker history.

With season one already filmed, one of the show's hosts include well-known poker pro Mark Seif, who won back-to-back bracelets at last year's WSOP. His co-host is Matt Corboy, an American actor whose credits include Lilo and Stitch 2 and The Big Blind. Unfortunately, there is no sign of Shana Hiatt, but snoopy's fingers remain firmly crossed.

My only hope is that entry into the event was fair on all comers and based on performance rather than status. Many American poker shows tend to focus on the name plays with an unhealthy obsession for celebrities. However, although Hall of Famers and various other names are favoured, the PPT's invitation seems to be open to all. Let's just hope that we see a few Brits involved when the show airs this side of the pond.
