Negreanu Takes Top Prize In Tunica

Poker superstar Daniel Negreanu has started 2006 off in style by winning the WSOP Circuit Main Event in Tunica. This incredible onset has netted the pro a very healthy $755,525, boosting his total tournament earnings to in excess of 7 million.

With the likes of Layne Flack and Mike Matusow among the early chip leaders, Negreanu didn't truly find his feet until Day 2, where he found himself lying in 2 nd position. However, his skills in Hold 'em still remain superior to most, a claim that 240 other competitors will find hard to dispute.

Commencing on the 5 th January with a $500 No Limit Freezout, the 2006 Jack Binion WSOP Tournament Circuit Event saw many unknowns scoop huge 6 figure prizes. The only other notable victor was Spanish great Carlos Mortensen, who pipped John D'Agostino to take home over 50 thousand dollars in the $3000 H.O.R.S.E event.
