As hinted at in earlier articles, it was rumoured that Jamie Gold would sign up with Bodog following his World Series Win, but now the renowned online card room have made it official by announcing the Main Event winner as their newest recruit.
As with standard sponsorship deals, the plan is to back Gold in each event as he participates in the yearly poker circuit. In return, Gold and the publicity his appearances are sure to bring, will undoubtedly promote the Bodog name, putting them firmly on the map when it comes to online poker.
What is most notable perhaps is that Jamie Gold becomes the first post-boom World Series of Poker champion to be fronting someone else other than PokerStars. Whilst PokerStars have prospered from their recruitment of Moneymaker, Raymer and Hachem (three years of WSOP Champions), they're going to have to wait another year before they can add another name to the list.
With various other online companies, such as Full Tilt, emerging as fierce competitors, perhaps this spells the end of what appeared to be becoming a PokerStars dominated industry. This Beagle certainly hopes so...
