Ah, as I foolsihly display the Austrian flag on the last EPT news item, it suddenly dawns on me that Baden is not in Austria, but rather the southwest of Germany, and a historical state of that.
Born in the 12th century, Baden joined the German Empire in 1871, eventually becoming a part of the Weimar Republic in 1918.
Baden was a popular stop on the last EPT, proving to be a quiet, but rather beautiful little place in which online highroller, Patrik Antonius, reigned supreme. Taking home €343,366 from last season's visit, Antonius saw off Gunnar Osterbrod to win his first EPT and stamp his authority down on the live scene, as well as the online world.
But who'll take top honours this year? Whilst a Scaninavian player is always likely to win, the Brits have been fairing rather well of late with Dave Gregory and Robin Keston finalling in Barcelona, before making way for the delightful Vicky Coren to shock the nation with her rather spectacular win in London, thereby becoming the first ever female EPT winner.
Will we have another?...
