Stoked To Be In Stoke

Whilst most comps that I am asked to promote are your standard affairs, every so often, an event comes around that forces my Beagle ears to perk up and stand upright. One of those comps is Grosvenor Stoke’s upcoming £300 Freezeout, due to commence this Saturday (16th & 17th Dec) at 4pm.

Like many £300 tourneys, it will be a two day affair, but the key difference is the levels that will be included. The standard blind levels are all present, but what Rob, the cardroom supervisor, has successfully done is listen to the players and add three extra levels, the 25/50, 75/150 and 150/300, thereby ensuring that the event doesn’t turn into a crap shoot.

The full structure will be as follows:

25/50
50/100
75/150
100/200
150/300
200/400
300/600
400/800
500/1000
600/1200
800/1600
1000/2000
1500/3000
2000/4000

With a 45 minute clock and such an excellent structure, this should turn out to be one of the best comps of the year. At £300, it’s highly affordable to those who can’t quite splash out on the circuit Main Events, yet ultimately remains very playable giving skill the utmost chance of prevailing.

Because of this, I tip my hat to Rob who is clearly working his butt off to make Grosvenor Stoke a popular place to play. And with the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour due to visit the Midlands’ Casino later in the year, the future certainly looks bright for everyone associated with the cardroom.

To conclude, I urge you to participate in this event. Unfortunately, I am currently enjoying a break in Amsterdam with my other (better) half, so will be unable to make my presence known, but if I was around, I’d be sure to head on over and participate in what is clearly a cracking little comp.

Good luck to Rob and anyone who plays this comp. I sincerely hope that it draws the crowd it deserves.
