Three-Way Deal At Walsall

This weekend, Tim Flanders won his first ranking event for over five years when he became the Grosvenor Midlands Medley Champion. Although he lifted the title, however, his financial rewards were shared equally with two locals, Phil Peters and Don ‘The Thinker' Jones.

Although lacking silverware, it was fan favourite Don Jones who was clearly the most elated of the three. In what has to be the biggest win of his poker career, Don eagerly encouraged his friends to join him in front of the Poker 425 cameras so that he could share the limelight with what he referred to as ‘The Firm'.

Veteran gambler Phil Peters will also be delighted with his performance. He was down to the felt more than once and was even forced to cross swords with wife, Mrs N Peters, on many an occasion.

The award for the most painful beat has to go to Micky Herron. With just 10 players remaining, Peters raised from under the gun, Simon Zach moved all-in and Herron called with pocket kings. With Peters folding, all that was left was for Zach to flip over his Ace Jack and watch with delight as the river brought the most fortunate of straights.

This hand made Zach chip leader heading into the final, but his fortune wasn't to go any further as his KT ran into Jones' AT on a flop consisting of two tens.

However, when all the smoke cleared, it was Flanders who was presented with the comedy cheque and sparkling title. A cracking event for all those involved and a big thumbs up to the Grosvenor staff who provided yet another top notch week of poker festivities.
