For all those disappointed in Barca, or who missed the Copenhagen train, there will be a new stop on the European Poker Tour this March, announces Poker Stars.
Here's what the press release has to say:
The Dortmund EPT tournament, 8-11 March, 2007, will become the first EPT event to be staged in Germany. The four day, 5,000 euro buy-in event will be capped at 400 players and will be televised as part of the EPT TV series. The no limit texas hold’em tournament will take place at the Hohensyburg Casino, Dortmund.
EPT director John Duthie has been planning an EPT event in Germany for several months. "There are not that many venues in Germany with the space and facilities required to host an EPT tournament, but Casino Hohensyberg in Dortmund is an outstanding casino and comfortably meets the high standards required," says Duthie. "Poker players will be pleased to hear that there will be a full schedule of tournament activities alongside the main event, and cash games will also be available. "

So there you have it, another date for the diary, or another few weeks of trying one's hand at online satellites - either way it looked from the sell-out status of other events this season that the European poker community was ready for another one.
And out of sheer curiosity, I've looked up Dortmund - the biggest city in the Ruhr valley, Dortmund is, according to one tourism website, "a modern and cosmopolitan metropolis, acquiring renown all across Europe as an innovative location for technological development." But it's also apparently a thriving cultural and sporting arena, with multiple "greens." Well, I'm convinced; blondepoker will be most likely running live coverage from this new event, so it will be interesting to see whether it will be an instant success.
