The first stop on blondepoker’s Live Update tour in 2007 will be Dublin’s Citywest Hotel, where the Irish Poker Championships will in all probability attract a crowd of top British and Irish players, as well as some other Europeans, perhaps, who after the relative lethargy of December are all ready to take on the ranking events of the new year.
This tournament promises the sort of structure which is likely to attract the 500 players for whom they’re set up to cater – a 10k starting stack with hour blinds, in a venue mercifully large enough to cope with the number of runners. Last year’s event produced a prizepool of €400,000, and they’re hoping to break another record this time around. Add to this the televisation of the event and you’ve got the first big European event of the year. Expect to see regulars Andy Black, the Hendon Mob, Ken Docherty, Padraig Parkinson and Tommy Tiernan as well as blonde’s own Tikay. If you fancy a trip, here are the details:
