This February sees Sheffield’s opening festival of the year, the Steel City Cup Festival. Hosting £100 to £500 events, this week will be one of the few festivals to be solely made up of rebuy events, although the £500 Main Event is restricted to just the one additional supplement.
With this in mind, it will be interesting to see if the festival succeeds or not in terms of numbers, as although rebuys tend to be very popular around these parts, word on the poker grapevine is that low level freezeouts are what the people want, as proved by the Gutshot festivals which had punters arriving in their droves. Having said that though, preference can sometimes be regional, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
