If there's one casino that's picked up pace, and dramatically so, then it's Grosvenor Stoke at the Octagon. After only offering poker competitions for the last 12 months, Stoke have quickly become a force to be reckoned with. They may not match up to the likes of Walsall in regards to numbers, but they have undoubtedly built up a reputation as holding one of the most respected cardrooms in the country.
With daily comps ranging from £2 rebuys to £50 freezeouts, Grosvenor Stoke are starting to draw attention from the locals, frequently receiving numbers around the 40 to 50 mark. They have even held two £300 freezeouts, which have shown a considerable increase in players every outing. What's more, and perhaps more importantly at these early stages, the event has garnered respect from all those who attended, feedback complimenting the quality of service which included efficient waitresses, a free buffet and a cracking tournament structure that perhaps makes it one of the best low level freezeout comps in the country. With the foundations set, let's hope 2007 becomes a monumental year for the Grosvenor Stoke - there's no reason why it shouldn't be.
But it doesn't stop there - to celebrate their first year offering poker comps, Grosvenor Stoke are putting on a £100 No Limit Hold'Em Double Chance Freezeout on Saturday 28th April. Chips will be 4,000+4,000 and if it's anything like previous freezeouts, the blind and clock structure will be spot on.
The winner of certain poker competitions on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday night during April will recieve, as a bonus, a free seat into the £100 event on April 28th. They will be giving away 10 free seats during this as a thank you for all the support poker players have shown the cardroom. The April schedule will show which competitions have the seats available.
Rob Jones, cardroom supervisor at The Octagon Stoke said:
"Come April 3rd we will have been offering up poker competitions to Stokies and alike for a year. I can't believe that one year has passed since we opened the doors to our cardroom.
Our cardroom has been through many, many schedule changes to make sure that we have stayed competitive in the market. We have offered up £2 rebuys to £300 freezeouts for poker players. We have pushed poker forward with deeper stacks and value competitions and we intend to keep on doing this for all the players out there."
Good luck from everyone at blondepoker to Rob and his team.
